How soon can I expect cleaning services?
Your house cleaning can be scheduled within five days of your contacting Maine Maid to Clean. If you are in dire need of cleaning services, you may be scheduled sooner for an additional fee.

What products do you use for cleaning?
There are four options available for your house cleaning service in Maine.

We can use traditional cleansers: Chlorox bleach, Ajax soft-scrub, and Comet powder for kitchens and bathrooms; Spic and Span liquid for non-wood floors, Murphy's oil soap for wood floors and surfaces.

We can use green cleansers featuring Chlorox Green Works Products: Natural All-Purpose Cleaner, Natural Glass & Surface Cleaner, Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Natural Bathroom Cleaner and Natural Dilutable Cleaner.

We can use a combination of traditional and green cleansers to provide you a customized clean.

If you prefer, you may purchase your own cleansers for our use when cleaning your home.

What if something breaks?
We treat your home or office with as much care as if it were our own. In the event of a mishap, our cleaning team will leave you a note and Julie will promptly contact you to discuss the incident.

To prevent mishaps, cleaners avoid cleaning valuables such as crystal and irreplaceable collections, as well as curio cabinet interiors. We may also avoid cleaning sensitive items such as plasma and LCD television screens, computers, other electronic devices, and associated wires or plugs.

Do you practice "safe cleaning"?
Yes, we provide safe cleaning. We do not mix cleaning products. We do not use ladders or stand on chairs. We use a step stool for cleaning high places. We practice proper lifting and carrying guidelines at all times.

Do you wash dishes or do laundry?
We do not normally do dishes or laundry. However, if you wish to pay for these additonal services, than we would be happy to provide them.

Do you clean carpets and wash windows?
We do not steam clean carpets. We will spot wash with a damp cloth and a cleanser to remove ordinary spills and stains whenever feasible.

We do not clean exterior of windows, but we can clean the interior of windows which are within our reach. As a matter of routine, we remove hand prints and nose prints caused by children and pets on sliding glass doors and lower portions of windows.

What should I do to prepare for your cleaning services?
There is nothing you need to do, however, if you prefer that we spend more time cleaning and less time picking up, here are some suggestions:

Perform a general pick-up before we arrive. This is the best investment of your cleaning dollar and allows us to focus on cleaning. It also prevents us from placing an item in the wrong location making it difficult for you to locate later.

Place fresh linens on any beds that you wish changed while we are there.

Wash dishes before we arrive so that we can clean the kitchen sinks and counter tops thoroughly.

Promptly repair loose or broken items such as towel racks, toilet paper holders, microwave and refrigerator handles, glass shelves, etc. to avoid mishaps while we are cleaning.

If you wish to change services in your cleaning plan, please notify the office at least 24 hours in advance or leave a note for the cleaners.

Do I need to be home during cleaning services hours?
You do not need to be present during cleaning services. You may provide us with a key to your home. We carefully mark and secure all keys when not in use. If you have a password protected entrance, you may assign us a special user password for entrace.

What should I do with my pet while you are cleaning?
As long as your pets are friendly to strangers, our cleaners can safely work around them. Please secure any aggressive animals on the day of your cleaning service.

What time will you arrive?
We cannot provide an exact time of arrival but we can tell you within 2-3 hours of when you can expect the cleaners. Travel between jobs, weather conditions, unexpected cleaning needs at a prior location all will affect our arrival time at your home.

Should I tip the cleaners?
Cleaners do not expect tips. However, cleaners are permitted to accept tips should you choose to leave one as recognition for exceptional cleaning service.

What if I am not happy with your cleaning services?
Our cleaning services are 100% guaranteed. If you are not satisfied for any reason, contact us within 24 hours of service and we will return the next day at our expense to correct the problem.
